Meet the hc1 + Accumen Leadership Team
As President of hc1, Michael Braverman serves as the leader of the executive team. He is responsible for executing the business plan and ensuring that the delivery of hc1 solutions is transformational to our customers’ success.
Michael's journey with hc1 began in 2018, progressing through key leadership roles in Operations as well as membership on the Executive Leadership Team. His tenure at hc1 has been highlighted by significant contributions to services and analytics, showcasing his ability to drive growth and operational efficiency.
Before his time at hc1, Michael served in leadership roles at global software companies Genesys and Interactive Intelligence as the Director of PureConnect Business Operations. His team’s initiatives significantly enhanced the company's strategic planning, business intelligence and service operations capabilities.
Michael earned an Executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame and a BS in Marketing and Business Administration from Butler University. Throughout his career, he has consistently focused on operational excellence and strategic development.
Michael resides in Zionsville, Indiana with his family.
Charlie Clarke is the Chief Technology Officer at hc1. He is responsible for leading execution across hc1 Engineering and IT Operations. He oversees developing, delivering and maintaining new products and features to hc1 applications, as well as the continued security, availability and performance of the hc1 platform.
Before joining hc1, Charlie spent 15 years at Anthem Inc., where he led the delivery of a mission-critical enterprise customer service solution for the Medicare program. This solution provided 24×7 technology solutions for more than 55 million Medicare beneficiaries.
A strong advocate for the use of AI in healthcare, Charlie believes that AI has the potential to revolutionize the way healthcare is delivered. He is also a firm believer in the importance of collaboration between healthcare providers, payers, and technology companies. He is working to develop new AI-powered solutions that can improve the efficiency and effectiveness for our customers.
Charlie is a University of Notre Dame graduate with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He is also a certified AWS Cloud Practitioner.
As CFO, Chris oversees the finance, legal and compliance teams. Before hc1, Chris was President and CFO of ChaCha. At ChaCha, Chris launched the mobile products and guided the company’s growth to the #1 answers service worldwide, answering over 2 Billion questions in just a few years after its launch in 2008.
Before ChaCha, Chris spent 20 years scaling technology businesses in the wireless sector. He held various leadership roles in sales and customer operations, finance, M&A, and strategic planning for Verizon Wireless and Nextel Communications. At Nextel he was part of the team that completed the $35B merger with Sprint and then completed the $7B follow-on acquisition of Nextel Partners. Chris started his career at Deloitte Haskins and Sells and is a CPA.
Joanna is a member of the executive leadership team and serves as both an Operational and Human Capital leader, responsible for cPBM, Accumen Connect, Accumen Technology Solutions and internal operations functions.
Prior to Accumen, Joanna was a member of the executive leadership team and the head of the HR for Kudelski Security. Joanna provided strategic direction and leadership of human resource and administrative related functions across the organization. In addition to Kudelski Security, Joanna led the HR function for the new Kudelski Group HQ in Phoenix, AZ, supporting Nagra USA, mycimena and other internal businesses. Before Kudelski, Mrs. Peyton joined Early Warning in a new HR leadership position for the company, having a unique background in leading HR functions while managing fin-tech operational projects and teams.
Joanna has an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix and a B.S. from Arizona State University.
Joe is responsible for the operations of hc1's Lab Strategic Advisory Services including Consulting, Operations Management, IT Consulting, SCM, Lab Stewardship and Outreach. Prior to his long tenure at Accumen, Joe held senior roles in the lab industry in both Canada and the United States, including acting as the head of a unique lab JV between Dynacare and Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI while developing an outreach program which ultimately became the largest independent outreach program in the state of WI.
Joe has a B.S. from the Richard Ivey School of Business and is a Certified Public Accountant.

John Baker, MBA
Director
John Baker is the Director, COO, and Manager of National Wine & Spirits, Inc. (NWS/National). Founded in 1936 and headquartered in Indianapolis, NWS operates as a wine & spirits wholesaler in Indiana and an Authorized Distribution Agent (ADA) and wine wholesaler in Michigan. National’s 1,100 employees proudly service 20,000 licensees with 14,000 products represented by 450 suppliers.
As EVP/COO of National, John is ultimately responsible for all operations and the financial performance of the country’s eighth-largest wholesaler. He works closely with the ownership and management team and various external partners to develop and implement business plans that have delivered growth for NWS and its suppliers.
John graduated from the University of Miami (OH) and received his MBA from Vanderbilt’s Owen School of Management.
Mark Shary brings a wealth of experience building high-growth technology companies to hc1.com. Mark founded HubLink, a high-growth healthcare technology company, and led two others after beginning his career with Ernst & Young. Mark led HubLink from inception to more than $50 million in revenue through a combination of organic growth and mergers.
Having directly managed all core functional business areas for a variety of companies, Mark has built and managed international sales organizations. He has served as CFO of a listed company, bought and sold technology businesses, managed a large R&D team, negotiated multi-million dollar technology deals, and financed several startups.
Mark led and advised on dozens of corporate finance transactions ranging in size from several million to several billion dollars. He has a B.B.A in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and is a CPA.
